OUR CHURCH
As a community of faith, this church has served as a Methodist presence in this vicinity for nearly 200 years and this year the church building itself, built in 1874, has stood as a historical landmark at the corner of Seymour Lake and S. Sashabaw Roads for the past 150 years! With a couple of modifications in the 1950’s (an office was added in th attic and a basement was dug out from under the church to make room for a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a space for fellowship and Sunday school classrooms) it continued to serve the congregation’s needs for another 50 years..
Then, as area farms began to make way for suburban subdivisions in the late 1990s, when 10 acres of adjacent land went up for sale, the members stepped out in faith to purchase it. Anticipating they might soon outgrow the church, church leaders began making plans to construct a multipurpose Worship and Fellowship Center (WFC) behind the church. That building was completed in 2002 and in 2015 a lakeside pavilion was erected on another part of the property. Today our buildings provide space for worship, and many other church events, but they also host various community groups, including an AA group, a Cub Scout Pack, an office for Samaritan Counseling Center of South Eastern Michigan, Red Cross Blood Drives, and in 2024 our WFC also became a polling place for voters in Brandon Township.
OUR MISSION
As a Global Methodist Church, our Mission is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.”
OUR VISION
Our Vision is to be a source of living water to our community, as we join the Holy Spirit in His journey to bring hope, peace, and purpose to our neighbors, through sharing Jesus’ transformational love and serving their needs.
OUR BELIEFS
As Christians, we believe:
- There is only one God and He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it.
- Yet our one God exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The Bible is God’s word, written by human authors under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit, so that we could come to know who God and Jesus are.
- To have a personal relationship with each of us, God (The Father) sent Jesus Christ (His Son) to earth in human form to pay the penalty for our sins, so that we could all be reconciled to Him, have eternal life, and receive a life on earth that is good and full of hope, love, peace, joy, and purpose.
- This gift from God is available to everyone who will receive it through faith in Jesus Christ.
- The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make us aware of our need for a Savior and to enable us to die to our sins and live as followers of Jesus.
